Why would yahoo finance advertise a work at home scam?

The site they show in reference is a valid place to get information from yet they say at the end of the comments it’s closed due to spam. The site still shows the offer and has the title of /Hr jobs! Starter kits make it easy. Avoid it no matter what please. The site presents as an opportunity to do this, but this has fees to pay showing it’s a ripoff only.

In case someone comes across this yet I’m sharing it to ignore this or you will only end up losing money. I saw it pop up on my screen one day and when you check the details, it shows shipping of 2.99 only but has a 49.99 monthly fee after that is automatically taken in your credit information given. I saw those details further on this article still listed online. Don’t you feel that gives yahoo finance a bad reputation?IF you fell for this before you need to cancel your credit card to stop the billing, contest the fees and hassle to get those fees removed.

    Disclaimer:
Please bear in mind I am playing "Devil’s advocate" with this post. I strongly disagree with any misleading, ill-reputed, or shady advertising practices. Also… I agree with many of the points the Asker has stated.

Answer (from the perspective of online advertising):
Online advertisements are often hosted without an interaction on Yahoo’s part, which isn’t laziness it is practicality. To my knowledge, Ads are not approved by people individually, they go through an automated system (like purchasing something online).

If Yahoo! receives many complaints about an ad, they could remove it. However, more often than not, these issues are not resolved due to a difficulty in communication. Google (I believe) is implementing a new system, where you can rate ads you like with a plus (+) and others with a minus (-). Some sites also have links for reporting shady activity.

Advertisers sign up to host an ad on yahoo based off of search keywords, which are priced by the popularity of the key words and the number of impressions they buy. Each time an ad is viewed = 1 impression.

The responsibility of creating content of the ads falls directly onto the company purchasing the ad spot. Some are scam-like, but they are not necessarily illegal. They can be highly unethical, but unfortunately some people take advantage of others.

The companies are liable if they are fraudulent, but yahoo is only an advertising medium with millions of ads. Yahoo isn’t directly responsible because they aren’t scamming people, the ad creators are.

Yahoo isn’t sponsoring the ads necessarily, sponsorship is often paid for by the company that created the ad.

I hope this helped clarify why this happens.
Good luck, and beware of what you click on.
